Casa Loros Bed & Breakfast
Progress Report
April - July, 2007
This is the Casa Loros Progress Report for April thru July, 2007. Remember to click on the thumbnails to enlarge the photos.
These photos were taken during the period of April 22 thru April 28, 2007.
Each group of photos is immediately followed by a description of each picture left to right.
1 - 7) The first seven photos in this group show various angles of the workmen mixing and laying concrete on the upper level slab. Notice that they mix the concrete on previously-poured areas of the slab. They use wheel barrows and shovels to move the material to the mixing site and then to the section being poured. The road up the mountain is too steep for concrete trucks and mixing by hand is faster and less expensive than using an electric motor-driven concrete mixer.
8) The last photo shows a view from the lower plateau up the driveway to the upper plateau. A portion of the bulkhead surrounding the upper level is also shown.
9) This photo shows the first floor of the structure from the base of the lower driveway.
10 - 14) These shots show the lower level structure from various angles including one from the upper level looking down. The lower level will serve as the base of the porch on the upper level. It will contain a guest suite, maid's quarters and a storage area.
These photos were taken during July, 2007.
15) This photo shows the workmen beginning to erect the walls on the upper level of the house.
16) This is the lower level with some of the walls of the upper level showing.
17) Another view of the lower level showing the walls of the office and master bedroom suite.
18) This view shows the north side of the house. You're facing mostly east. The wall you see is one of the ones that will surround the pool area. In the background you can see two of the workmen and Kingsley's truck. The blue canisters in the foreground contain water used to make concrete.
19) This is a shot of the back of the house facing the ocean to the west. The doorway leads into the laundry room. The crane truck is parked in the pool area. The wall you see to the right is the same wall shown in the previous picture, but from the opposite side.
20) Out of sequence, this one shows the workmen erecting the walls of the upper level shown in photo 17.
21) This is taken approximately 90 degrees from photo 19. It shows a doorway entering the office. The floor to the right has been laid over the top of the lower level. It is the floor of the front porch.
22) A view of the ocean at dusk.
23) This photo was taken from atop the crane truck used to raise the panels into position. It shows, on the left, the completed office and master bedroom wing, and on the right, the upper level guest suite. The white floor at the front of the structure (toward the ocean) is the floor of the front porch.
